Since the onset of its second term, Trump has signed several executive orders affecting LGBTQ+ policies. The article discusses the change in the meditation of the army under Trump and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. It says that their policies emphasize aggression and ambience, moving away from inclusive messages. This is the opposite with a recruitment advertisement from the previous biden administration in which an army officer was painted to attend an proud parade. The article states, “For most presidents, the major cultural changes in the armed forces of our country do not take place overnight. It usually takes a commander for several years to leave an impression on the army. But President Trump and Secretary of Defense are found many times in a few weeks to complete PIT Hegaseth.
This is the third example where people associated with Trump’s administration are associated with the symbols associated with the Nazis. Trump’s advisor Elon Musk and Steve Bainon were first seen making ‘Roman Salute’ at the CPAC. Now, Trump shared an article that includes an image of the pink triangle, which is a symbol associated with the Nazi concentration camps.

Meaning of pink triangle

The pink triangle was used by the Nazi regime to identify gay men, similarly how Yellow Star was used for Jewish people. Since 1933, Nazi policies targeted homosexuals as part of efforts to “clean” Germany.
In concentration camps, people marked with pink triangle were subjected to various forms of misconduct, including medical experiments, caustation and mass execution. Color pink was used to highlight the belief that gay men were “feminine”. Some homosexuals were also assigned a pink triangle, but most were given a black triangle, which labeled them as “antisocial” because they did not fit the ideal family structure of the Nazis.
According to the website of the Sydney Jewish Museum, a monument characterized by The Pink Triangle, known as Gay and Lesbian Holocost Memorial, is located in the Green Park of Sydney, which is in front of the Sydney Jewish Museum. Opened in 2001, the memorial recognizes and remembers the oppression of the LGBTQia+ community during the Holocaust.
In Berlin, the monument for homosexuals persecuted under Nazism was not established until 2008.
The pink triangle was later rebuilt by the gay community during the AIDS epidemic. AIDS coalition activists used the symbol for Power (Act up), replacing it directly to represent resistance. This was depicted in a campaign of silence = death to raise awareness about the AIDS crisis and criticize government inaction.
Today, the pink triangle is sometimes used to honor the Act or to remember gay and transgender individuals, who have been persecuted during Holocost, whose history has been largely recognized for many years.
