US President Donald Trump shopped for a new Tesla on the White House Driveway on Tuesday (March 12, 2025), choosing a bright red sedan to show his support for Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company as it faces a bloomac due to its work to pursue the President’s political agenda and reduce the federal government.
“Wow,” Mr. Trump said that he made his way easier in the driver’s seat of a model S. “It’s beautiful.”
Mr. Musk came from the passenger and joked about “giving a heart attack to secret service” as he spoke about starting a vehicle reaching 60 miles (95 km) per hour in a few seconds.
Mr. Trump told reporters that he would write a check for the car, which retails for approximately $ 80,000, and leaves it in the White House so that his employees could run it. The President also said that he hoped that his purchases would promote Tesla, which is struggling with a fall in sales and stock prices.
“This is a great product,” he said. Referring to Mr. Musk, Mr. Trump said “We have to convince him.”
This was the latest example of how Mr. Trump demonstrated loyalty to Mr. Musk, who spent heavily on his return campaign last year and has been an important person in his second administration. Tesla’s share price increased by about 4% on Tuesday after Mr. Trump took over by Mr. Trump in January.

The Republican President announced on social media overnight that he was going to buy a new Tesla, “A show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, actually a great American.”
Mr. Musk has also continued to run Tesla – as well as social media platform X and rocket manufacturer SpaceX – while Sri Trump also works as an advisor.

Speaking on Tuesday at a business roundtable event, Mr. Trump said that Mr. Musk, the world’s richest man, “should not be intimidated or suffering because he wants to help the government.”
Other people have also ralled to protect Shri Musk. A prominent conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said that he bought a customized version of a cybercatra that he would give to a customer of his online store next month.
Apart from Tesla’s struggles, Mr. Musk has also faced other challenges. He said the X was targeted by a “massive cyber attack” that disrupted the social media platform on Monday, and ended in the explosions in the last two test launch of their starship rocket.
