Dr. Mehmat Oz, President Donald Trump’s pick agency to lead the in -charge of the government -run health insurance programs, on Friday refused to commit the medicid to be committed to future cuts, when he directly asked if he would do so.
Instead, the candidate for the Center of Medicare and Medicade Services said that the way to protect the medicid is “to ensure that it is viable at every level.”
During the hearing of Oz Senate, the exchange raised new questions about the fate of the Medicade under the Republican-led Congress and the White House, despite Trump’s promises of preserving the IT and other federal security-net programs.
The budget office of the Nonpartison Congress last week said that the current budget of House Republican could not meet the goals of cutting its expenses without considerable cuts in Medicare or Medicade coverage.
Sen Ron Widen, D-Ore., The rankings member of the Senate Finance Committee, asked ooz on Friday, “Since you cherish Medicid, would you agree to oppose the cut in the Medicade program?”
“I cherish Medicid, and I have worked on a large scale in the Medicade environment, as I have highlighted, practicing at Columbia University,” Oz said.
Wayden replied, “This is not a question, doctor. The question is, will you oppose the cut in this program that you say that you cherish?”
Oz again refused to say that it would happen.
“I want to make sure that today and in future patients have resources for their safety, if they get sick,” he said.
“The way you protect the medicade, it is to ensure that it is viable at all levels, which includes enough physicians to bear the services, make sufficient payments to do what you request, and ensure that patients are able to use the Medicade.”
