MPs in the Texas Legislature are considering a bill that will prevent people in the state from changing the gender marker on their birth certificate to reflect their gender identity.
Measurement, Senate Bill 406, is now being debated in the Texas Senate.
Last year, the Texas Department of Public Safety stopped changing the penis on the driver’s license, until the courts intervened according to Fox 4.
The Senate Bill will block the change in gender on the birth certificate, irrespective of the court order.

“This bill is not about restricting someone’s personal expression. It is about ensuring that legal documents reflect accurate data.” “Right now, the only way to change sex is by court order, and this bill stops it.”
Testifying before the committee, Megan Benton, of group Texas values, said it is “a case of public safety and public records.”
“If a male can legally change his birth certificate to say that she is a woman, it is possible to get the driver’s license, passport and social security card that also says that she is a woman,” she said.
Many transgender Texas also testified before the committee, saying they believe they are being targeted incorrectly.

Amanda McLaglin said, “I am not a monster. It’s not a fetish for me, and I did not decide to be a woman.”
Megan Fairbanks asked, “What is the harm by the society?”
“I don’t play the game. The only thing I want to do in the bathroom is the use of the bathroom and touches his makeup and wash his hands,” Fairbanks said.
Texas’s policy coordinator, Landon Richie’s Transgender Education Network argued that the bill would isolate and encourage others to discriminate or target the transgender people, which he said that he was already weak.

The bill is expected to pass through the Senate and be sent to the House.
This comes when state MPs passed laws banning biological men by competing in girls’ school games.
At the federal level, President Donald Trump signed an executive order, recognizing the male and the woman as the only gender.
