New Delhi: Elon Musk -led Tesla Inc. began the process for the certification and symmetry of its two electric cars in India, which is an essential requirement for all vehicles before being sold in the country.
Tesla India Motor and Energy Pvt. Limited, the local unit of Musk’s firm, presented two new applications for home -ology of model Y and Model 3 cars in India, according to industry sources. Homolasis is the process of certifying that a vehicle is roadwritth and meets the criteria set for all vehicles manufactured in India or is imported into the country. Tests ensure that the vehicle matches the requirements of the Indian market in terms of emissions, safety and road as per central motor vehicle rules.
The company earlier submitted seven applications for home -ology in India, which were for testing cars. Recently an eighth application was approved.
The move comes between a talks on a free trade agreement with the US and India, under which the two countries are expected to reduce tariffs to increase bilateral trade.
