This week the Trump administration was written, Electric Automker Tesla expressed concern about the ongoing tariff of President Donald Trump, warning that the company could be “exposed” to a repayment tariff and urged administration to consider “Downstream effects”.
The comments were made in an inconsiderate letter to the United States trade representative Jaimison Greer on the Tesla letterhead. After the USTR office earlier this year, it was stated that it would “review unfair trade practices”.
This letter comes from the company of Tech billionaire Elon Musk, March 11, which is leading the government’s effort to reduce the federal workforce and reduce the expenses of the government. It is not clear whether Musk was involved in sending letters personally, and he has not addressed it on his social media platform, X.
As stated by ABC News, some Tesla shareholders have publicly questioned Musk’s commitment to the company as Tesla shares have fallen dramatically as Musk has joined the Trump administration.
“As an American manufacturer and exporter, Tesla encourages the USTR to consider the downstream effects of some proposed works done to address unfair trade practices,” the letter said.
Representatives of Tesla did not answer ABC News questions, including questions about writing letters. A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to the remarks request.
In the letter, Tesla stated that the tariff action by the Trump administration resulted in “immediate reactions” by the target countries, including increased tariffs on electric vehicles.

The letter stated, “The previous American Special Tariff Action has an increase in the cost for Tesla for vehicles manufactured in the United States, and (2) The cost for the same vehicles has increased when exported from the United States, resulting in a less competitive international market in the less competitive international market for American manufacturers. “USTR should examine ways to avoid these damage in future functions.”
The letter urged the administration that when it comes to “future trade policy actions”, as an example, as an example, what they say is the lack of lithium-ion batteries despite their efforts of the company, which comes to manufacture them domestically.
“Nevertheless, even with aggressive localization of the supply chain, some parts and components are difficult or impossible for the source within the United States,” said in the letter. “Tesla supports a process by USTR to evaluate domestic supply chain boundaries by USTR to ensure that the American manufacturers are not unfair from trade functions, resulting in applied to cost-funded tariffs on essential components, or other import restrictions on essential commodities to support American manufacturing jobs.
“Trade works should not be struggled with objectives to further enhance domestic manufacturing and support,” the letter stated.
