Along with sharing a month email, called “difficult news”, the US Education Department has erased one of its own duties that have abolished more than half of the offices that investigate complaints of civil rights from students and their families.
Complaints of civil rights in schools and colleges have been investigated on a large scale through a dozen regional posts across the country. Now there will be five.
The office is being closed for places of civil rights in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, Proplublea has learned. Office will be in Atlanta, Denver, Canasus City, Seattle and Washington, DC
OCR is one of the largest promoters of the federal government of the 1964 civil rights Act, who investigates thousands of allegations of discrimination every year. This includes disability, breed and discrimination based on gender.
“It is disastrous for American education and our students. This will take away the students of equitable education, put our weakest people at great risk and set back the educational success that will last for many people, ”Katie Dulam said, an OCR deputy director who resigned last Friday. “The effect will be felt well beyond this transitional period.”

Overall, around 4,000 employees of the Education Department were told through emails on Tuesday through a large -scale email that they would be placed on administrative leave on March 9 with the last day of employment.
