Shabana Azmi, currently enjoying the success of Dabba Cartel, shared an amusing incident on Khane Mein Kya Hai. At the show’s trailer launch, a 20-year-old crew member failed to recognize her and mistook her for either the actress or her daughter-in-law, Shibani Dandekar.
Shabana shared a humorous incident from the Dabba Cartel trailer launch. A 20-year-old crew member, checking the guest list, failed to recognize her and asked who she was. The rest of the cast was shocked, while Shabana calmly introduced herself. The crew member even mistook her for Shibani Dandekar.
The veteran actress also clarified that she wasn’t offended by the young crew member’s ignorance, describing her as sweet and deeply focused on her work. However, her Dabba Cartel co-star Anjali Anand was surprised that the same girl also failed to recognize the show’s producers, Ritesh Sidhwani and the well-known actor-singer Farhan Akhtar.
She further shared her admiration for the increasing number of women working across various departments on film sets. She recalled how her husband, Javed Akhtar, humorously remarked about the changing times, joking that there were no more clueless women fluttering their eyelashes and pretending not to know anything.
Shabana playfully responded to Javed Akhtar’s remark by jokingly saying, “Joote khaoge” (you’ll be smashed with shoes). However, she clarified that he was only teasing her and didn’t mean it seriously.
Dabba Cartel premiered on Netflix on February 28. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the crime thriller boasts an ensemble cast featuring Shabana Azmi, Anjali Anand, Shalini Pandey, Jyotika, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, Bhupendra Singh Jadawat, Lillete Dubey, and Gajraj Rao in key roles.
