'Pravinkoodu Shappu' OTT release: When and where to see Basil Joseph's Black Comedy thriller

Basil Joseph and Saubin Shahir’s ‘Pravinkudu Shappu’ has finally been set for the OTT release after a lukewarm dramatic run.

Directed by Debue Sareraj Srinivasan, the film revolves around the mystery of a murder in a village Todi shop. Basil Joseph has played the role of a police inspector Santosh, a police inspector, a rich and frightened person, who investigated Babu’s death. Saubin Shahir portrayed Kannan, a worker of the toddy shop, where the crime occurs. As the Santosh reaches the depth in the case, unexpected turns come out, guessing the audience to the very end.

The film also includes a strong supporting cast, including the Kamban Vinod Jose, Chandini Sreedharan, Shivajith and Shabresh Verma in the lead roles. With a mixture of dark humor and suspense, Pravinkoodu Shappu offers an entertaining story that discovers the thin line between human greed, deception, and morality and crime. The black comedy thriller hit theaters on 16 January 2025.
Despite receiving mixed reviews in theaters, the film is expected to find a comprehensive audience on the OTT, where dark thriller often achieves the position of the cult. The music for the film is made by Vishnu Vijay, which combines the atmospheric stress of the story.
For those who missed their dramatic release, Pravinkoodu Shappu will be available for streaming on Sonyliv from April 11, bringing the secret of its complicated murder to the audience at home.
The Etime review of the Basil Joseph starrer reads, “Actor makes a strong start, but like writer -director Sriraj Srinivasan, loses grip in the second half in a very long time.
