Loveyapa is a Hindi remake of the hit 2022 film Love Today, which director Advait Chandan presented as a treat on February 7, 2025. The movie, headlined by Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, made a business of Rs. 0.50 crore on its first Tuesday. According to a Sacnilk report, the India net collection after five days of run at the theatres was Rs 5.60 crore.
Before its release, owing to various reasons, people doubted the success of the movie. Even the opening day collection of the movie couldn’t even reach the Rs. 2 crore mark. However, the relatability of the content, fast screenplay, and the packaging of reality on reel resonated with the current generation. Thus, the movie’s box office collection went from Rs.1.15 crore on Friday to Rs.1.65 crore on Saturday. Thereafter, on Sunday, it maintained the momentum with the collection of Rs. 1.75 crore. However, the weekend magic didn’t continue on weekdays. On its first Monday, the business went to Rs.0.55 crores, which was a 68.57% dip as compared to the numbers from Sunday. Currently, the early estimates of Tuesday’s collection show that the business went further down, and the movie collected only Rs. R.0.50 crore.
Further, the overall occupancy on Tuesday, for the movie was 8.26%. This was divided into:
Morning Shows: 5.13%
Afternoon Shows: 7.37%
Evening Shows: 9.64%
Night Shows: 10.90%
‘Loveyapa’
Though Junaid made his acting debut via OTT, ‘Loveyapa’ marks his first big-screen outing. The movie tells the story of a couple compelled to swap their phones. As the phone reveals their hidden secrets, their relationship embarks on a significant journey. This premise and narrative make the film highly relatable to today’s generation.
Reviewing the movie, ETimes stated, “What does trust mean to a generation that thrives on situationships? Can love survive modern-day distractions where temptation is just a click away—courtesy of messaging apps, social media, and endless choices? This forms the crux of director Chandan Advait’s youthful rom-com, originally written by Pradeep Ranganathan.”
