There has been a dispute in the US Congress after addressing a transgender representative as a person during the hearing.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Republican Representative Keith Self, a House Chairman of the Deputy Commissioner of Foreign Affairs, referred to Democrat Sara McBrid – the first transgender person selected to the Congress from Delaware – as “Mr.”.
Self, who presided over the sub -committee in Europe, introduced McBrid as “The Congress from Delaware”, which was during arms control and hearing of American aid in Europe.
In response, McBrid called the self “Madame Chair”.

A Democratic Representative of Massachusetts, Bill Keating, challenged the comments of the self, seeking clarification. “Mr. President, can you repeat your introduction again, please?” Keating asked.
