Jio Platforms Limited on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership with Spacex, a step that would offer Starlink Browdband services in India. Reliance Industries, a subsidiary, says that it will take advantage of the constellations of the low-earth satellites of Elon Musk-owned company owned to its clients with high-speed broadband services to its clients in the country’s most remote and rural areas. Starlink equipment will be available to purchase at Reliance Jio Store with customer service installation and activation, subject to Spacex, to get authority from regulatory officials to sell Starlink in India.

According to a press release by JIO Platform Limited, Starlink praises its current high-speed broadband services such as Jioairfiber and JioFiber. It is claimed to expand the availability of the Internet in challenging places. This step conforms to the ambitions of the telecom provider, which is not only for enterprises, but also for small and medium businesses as well as communities across India to make high-speed internet accessible.
After the authority is given by the regulatory officials, customers will be able to buy starlink equipment from Reliance Jio Stores. In addition, telecom provider Elon Musk will also offer customer service and activation services on behalf of the company owned by Elon Musk.
After the announcement, SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gin Shotwell said, “We are eager to work with JIO and are receiving authority to provide access to more people, organizations and businesses from the Government of India to the high-speed internet services of Starlink.”
To further enhance India’s digital ecosystem, both companies will also explore other complementary areas of cooperation, taking advantage of their respective infrastructure, including the huge Starlink’s huge low-east class satellite constellation. It is estimated that there are about 7,000 active satellites providing less delayed broadband services in some of the world’s most remote areas.
