New York – New York (AP) -Robert Flack, Grammy-Vigner singer and Pianoist, whose songs “The First Time Ever I Same Your Face” and “Killing Me Sard In Killing Me Softy” made him a global star, eulogized in a memorial service on Monday.
Flack was one of the top recording artists of the 1970s and an influential artist, due to his intimate vocal and music style, died last month. She was 88 years old.
Flack’s “Celebration of Life” Memorial will be livestroke from New York on Monday afternoon.
Here is everything you need to know:
Flack’s life celebration will start from East at 4 pm at the Abicinian Baptist Church. It is open to the public. The service will also be livestream at www.robertaflack.com.
This is a fitting location: Flack Church grew up with gospel; His mother played the organ at Arlington, Virginia at the Lomax African Methodist Episopal Church. As a teenager, she began with a church song playing on the piano.
Flack leaves a list of rich performances of music that avoids classification. His debut, “First Tech,” Wov Sol, Jazz, Flemenko, Gospel and Lok were presented in a revelation package, and measured in its approach.
Possibly he will be remembered for his classics. These include “The First Time a Ever I Same Your Phase,” his dream cover of “The First Time Ever I So Your Face” written by English folk artist Ivan McCol. It marked the beginning of the success of the mainstream of Flack, when it was used in a love scene between Clint Eastwood and Donna Mills, which is his 1971 film “Misty for Misty”.
But most will think of “kill me with my song gently”, when Flack’s name comes into conversation. He first heard Lori Liberman’s “Killing Me softly with his song”, while in an aircraft and immediately fell in love with it.
