Greek PM train appoints new ministers after tragedy protests

Greek Prime Minister Kiranas Mitsotacis On Friday, he reshuffled his cabinet, appointed new finance and transport ministers and handed over the young officers to other major departments.
The reshuffle comes in response to recent mass protests on the worst rail tragedy of the nations.
After the train accident in 2023, Mitsotakis is trying to win back the trust’s trust in which 57 people were killed.

What was the Tempi railway disaster?
Rail disaster occurred on February 28, 2023, when a passenger train collided with a freight train from Athens to TheSaloniki.
Fifty people died in the accident, including many students, and many more injured.
Both trains traveled towards each other for miles without triggering any alarm. The accident was blamed on faulty equipment and human error.
An independent report recently condemned the dilapidated position of the rail network. It also exposed serious deficiencies in the investigation of the accident.
Earlier this month, Parliament voted to investigate whether a senior official was sent to the scene by Mitsotakis, authorized the bulldozing of the accident site, causing a loss of significant evidence.
More than 40 people have been prosecuted, including a local station master responsible for rooting trains, who have been accused of “murder due to negligence”.
