Experienced Bollywood Actor Govinda recently shared a complicated anecdote about his early days in the industry, revealing how he was once dropped from the filmmaker. BR ChopraOffice after rejecting a role in MahabharataIn a conversation with Mukesh Khanna on Bhisham International, Govinda recalled the incident that was rejected the role of his mother.
The actor recalled that he had a close relationship with Renu Chopra and often used to be at his home, even assisted in domestic work. One day, he was called to BR Chopra’s office, where the filmmaker informed him that he was selected to play Abhimanyu In the Mahabharata. However, Govinda turned down the proposal citing his mother’s wishes. Chopra asked him, ‘What is your mother?’ He explained that his mother, who was a sadhvi, advised against playing the role.
Govinda admitted that, at that time, he did not see Chopra as an influential person in the industry. His response did not sit well with the filmmaker, who had a reputation for low nature. So he said, ‘He is a little pagal (he is crazy). The situation increased when Govinda defended his mother’s stance, reminding Chopra that he had acted in many films including Sharda, and was senior to him in the industry.
However, the reason for finally removing him from the office was an unusual piece of advice from his mother. He had instructed him to take a specific line for Chopra, performing in front of him. When Govinda did so, the filmmaker was surprised and immediately ordered him to be removed from the office. The actor said in frustration to Chopra, “What are you, take out who is this crazy person? Throw him out).”
Despite the fall, Govinda’s career increased in the years that became one of the most beloved actors of Bollywood. His ability to balance humor, drama and action strengthened his place in the industry.
Recently, Govinda has been in the news due to her personal life, as the divorce report from his wife Sunita Ahuja is in the headlines. The actor has not confirmed the rumors.
