Congress and members of Dravidian Munnetra Kazgam (DMK) moved out of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday to express their dissatisfaction with the answer given by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on the approval given to a renewable energy project near the India-Pakistan border.
Asking a supplementary question during the question hour, Congress leader Manish Tiwari said that national security and energy security will have to go by hand. Although he did not name a particular group, his question was in relation to a news report Mentor Last month, claiming that the government had changed the security rules along the Gujarat-Pakistan border to allow the Adani Group to set up renewable energy parks.
Mr. Tiwari claimed that the mixed renewable energy project would run for one kilometer of the International Border (IB) and said that according to the security protocol, any major infrastructure project should be at least 10 km from IB. He asked whether any exemption was given in the proposed project.
New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Joshi said that all approval for any proposal and license centers, state and relevant agencies have been given after receiving approval.
Troubled by the answer, Congress members participated in the well of the House and raised slogans on national security. When Speaker Om Birla refused to focus on his opposition, Congress and DMK members staged the walkout.
Shell companies in Mauritius
Separately, Congress also launched the alleged link of Adani group with some shell companies in Mauritius. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a state visit to the island of island.
Congress General Secretary (Communication) Jayer Ramesh targeted the government for “failed” to investigate allegations of money laundering, in a post on X. He said that Mauritius is an important financial center and a long time of India.
