Leaders of both Canada and Mexico, along with US President Donald Trump, looked for a solution after slapping tariffs over their countries on the phone this week, but the Chinese President is unlikely to make a similar call soon.
Beijing, who has been closed in a trade and technical war with the US for years, has been taking a separate approach in his second term in his second term, which made it clear that any dialogue should be held at the same run.
Chinese leaders say they are open for talks, but also prepared for the high American tariff, which has increased by 20% since Mr. Trump took over seven weeks ago. With the intention of not being caught by the guard during Mr. Trump’s first term, Chinese was prepared with an anti -anti -measures – last week to implement his own taxes on the key to US farm imports and more this week.
“As Washington Pursue Further, Beijing does not look at other options, but to retaliate,” a think tank, director of China program at the Stimson Center, said Sun. “This does not mean that Beijing does not want to interact, but cannot be seen as begging for talks.”
Another 10% tariffs were placed at the top of 10% on February 4 after the US last week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has so far given its fastest befitting reply: “If the war is what America wants, it is a tariff war, a business war or any other type of war, we are ready to fight till the end.”
The leadership of Xi Jinping of the ruling Communist Party fulfilled both the conditions of Shri Trump, giving Beijing more continuing in its plan. He is the one who decided that it is not yet time to talk with Mr. Trump, said Daniel Russell, vice -president of International Security and Diplomacy at the Asia Society Policy Institute.
“This is not a scheduling issue, it is a leverage for China,” said Mr. Russell. “Xi won’t run in a call if there is any chance that he will be harassed or humiliated and for both political and strategic reasons, Xi will not play the role of a supplier.”
“Instead, China is coming back immediately – but judiciously – for each set of tariffs,” he said.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that “no country should imagine that it can suppress China by developing good relations with China.”
“Such two-faced tasks are not only bad for the stability of bilateral relations, but will not even build mutual belief,” Mr. Wang said. He said that China welcomes cooperation with America, but noted that “if you pressurize, China will retaliate strongly.”
