Are artificial food color bad for you?


In his first meeting with top food officials, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior called prominent companies such as PepsiCo, WK Kelog and Craft Hanz to remove artificial colors from the US food supply.

Kennedy says that he wants to get “the worst material” out of the food system and is also known as a highest priority, FD & CS, to remove dyes and colors.

According to the notes of the meeting shared by the Consumer Brands Association, the Secretary is expected to execute the plan before the end of President Donald Trump’s tenure.

“It was a creative conversation and we are ready to continue to support public health, build consumer trusts and promote consumer choice,” Melissa Hawkstad told CNBC, CEO of Consumer Brands Association, in a statement.

Earlier this year, the Red Dye No. 3 was banned by food and drug administration in food products and medicines. Research spread all the way in the 1980s showed that high doses of red number 3 developed tumors in male mice.

“There is no concrete data in which the scientific community is fully aware that these other colors are problematic,” says Frederick Burtley, CEO and Chairman of a leading science teacher and a major science teacher of science and industry.

“They have been considered safe so far by the FDA, and there is no research that we say they say they are harmful in humans.”

According to the agency’s site, there are nine color adders approved by the FDA for use in food. When the ban on red dye number 3 is effective in 2027, this number will be eight.

These additives are used in processed meats such as frosting, grains, beverages and hot dogs to give them their lively colors.

“It is not bad to reduce these things,” Burtley, who has a PhD in immunology, They say. “But this is really a balance. I mean, what are we doing overall? What does your entire diet look like? How do you exercise?”

Vanessa Reseto, registered dietist and CEO and co-founder of Kalina Health, agree with Burtley and say there is no need to throw your foods that include FD and CS.

“Come on, be serious, my pantry right now, because it is my favorite thing to eat. You can eat them. Just eat them moderately,” Reseto is called. “Just be a brain. You can’t eat them every single day.”

“These types of foods are generally cheap, and so people go to that,” she says. “So if we can reduce or reduce these additives, the population is going to be healthy.”

Although there is not enough data to prove that these additives are harmful to humans, experts also say that they are in large quantities, there are insufficient evidence to prove that they are in large quantities.

Major food companies will probably proceed to change artificial colors with natural options such as vegetables and fruit juices. These are very healthy options, Burtley says.

During the removal of the dyes, there will be no change for both large food and consumers, which can mean slightly higher in grocery prices. “It is simply more expensive to find those natural products and use those natural products,” Burtley says.

But reseto says that the food industry should not be stopped by considering this change seriously.

“Let’s stop trying to cut the corners,” she says. “Let’s stop trying to believe that people do not want to pay for things that have better quality material, and put it in front of them and then let them make an option.”
