California -based Apple has updated a significant protection to its equipment, which addresses an important vulnerability within its webkit browser engine. Latest software patch-iOS 18.3.2, iPados 18.3.2, and Macos Sequoia 15.3.2- Re-start a zero-day defect (CVE-2025-24201), which was allegedly exploited in highly sophisticated attacks.
Addressed security threat
According to Apple’s release notes, the security defect under consideration allowed malicious web materials to bypass the security sandbox of the webcate, potentially provided unauthorized access to the user’s system to the attackers. This vulnerability can be availed to execute the arbitrary code, presenting a serious risk to the affected equipment.
In addition, the company also admitted that this defect was actively exploited in targeted attacks against specific persons. The vulnerability was originally patted in iOS 17.2, which was released in December 2023. However, Apple has now increased the fix to ensure that the latest software versions keep the devices running.
Apple’s safety update
It is noteworthy that this is the third time this year that Apple has issued emergency security updates to address serious weaknesses. Last month itself, Tech Giant released iOS 18.3.1 and iPados 18.3.1 to fix another major defect. That particular vulnerability allowed the attackers to disable the USB restricted mode on a locked device – another exploitation that was used in highly sophisticated attacks that allegedly targeted selected individuals.
