Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested earlier this month, rejected her bail application by a special court in Bengaluru. The decision was taken on Friday, March 14, 2025 due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.
On March 3, Ranya Rao was arrested at Bangalore Airport with gold bars worth Rs 12.56 crore. Later discoveries on his properties exposed additional gold jewelery to Rs 2.06 crore and Rs 2.67 crore in cash. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched an investigation into the case, including Rao and its alleged relations for the international smuggling network.
Today, according to an India report, Rao claimed that he received instructions from unknown numbers for gold smuggling. Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) discovered nine places in Bangalore, which were associated with Hukakeeri, who received an interim order from the Karnataka High Court to stop their arrest.
Another accused in the case, Tarun Konduru, has filed a bail application, which is scheduled to be heard on March 15, 2025. Konduru is suspected to play an important role in smuggling operations with relations with international networks.
The ED has raided Karnataka as part of the investigation, while the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating Ranya’s recent wedding, guest lists and potential connections for the conducting possible connections from expensive gifts to highlight them.
