NWSL: BOS Nation FC to change the name after major branding controversy


The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Boston -based expansion team announced on Friday that it would be changing its name. The change comes for a marketing campaign after a wave of transgender backlash he left back in October.

The team was named BOS Nation FC, declared at a branding event at a branding event along with a marketing campaign in which the slogan “lots of balls” was painted. The slogan inspired the acute backlash from the transgender community including an NWSL player.

A transgender player who goes from the unchanged name Quin, who plays for the Seattle regime, spoke against the team’s branding announcement in a post on Instagram.

The team quickly left the slogan, issued a public apology for this, and even thanked those who spoke against it.

The statement said, “We fully accept that the contents of the campaign did not reflect the safe and welcome environment, which we try to create for all, and we say in the LGBTQ+ community and the Trans community, especially from the Trans community for the injury,” the statement said.

Another statement said, “Thanks to all those who have called us accountable by calling us to do better. We listen to you and we will do together.”
