The new Prime Minister of Canada on Friday reprimanded President Donald Trump about the idea that his northern neighbor would become the 51st American state.
Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters in Ottawa, “I have become clear. The minister behind me, I think, for a person, when asked, it is clear,” Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters in Ottawa, “I was sworn in shortly after.
“We will not be a part of the United States, anytime, somehow, somehow, in size or form,” Carney said.
“America is not Canada,” the Prime Minister said, who is a member of the Liberal Party, and the former head of both Bank of Canada and Bank of England.
Carney also answered a question about US State Secretary Marco Rubio, who said on Friday that Canada would be better as an American state.
“It’s crazy,” Carney said. “It’s crazy. It is very simple. You can say all this.”
But Carney also said that he is eager to talk to Trump, “We respect the United States. We respect President Trump.”
Carney’s comments come after Trump’s suggestions that Canada – who is a top American colleague and business partner – will be absorbed in the United States, and as the presidents put tight tariffs on the neighboring country.
And he came a day after the outgoing Prime Minister of Greenland rejected Trump’s call that his country – a region of Denmark – became an American property.
Greenland Prime Minister Mute EZ wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday, “The US President has once again aired the idea of enaches us.”
“Don’t treat us with insults. Is enough,” EDEE wrote.

In Ottawa on Friday, Carney told reporters, “We are masters in our house. We are in charge. You know?”
“It is always good when people say good things about you, but we do not need it. We are not asking for it.”
“Look at the cabinet behind me. You will not have that cabinet in America,” Carney said. “You do not have that cabinet in America. We are a very different country.
The PM said “Canada’s nature means that we will not join America”
“Economics means we shouldn’t do,” said Carney. “What you see from this government is focusing on construction at home, building abroad with different partners. And it will strengthen this point.”
“It’s good-we are doing it for our own reasons, to be clear. For our own people, for high-devotional jobs,” Carney said. “But finally the truth will be out, and Americans will also understand.”
Since re-entered the White House for his second non-term term, Trump has repeatedly discussed handling the Canada, Greenland and Panama Canal.
In early February, he stated that the United States “will capture the Gaza Strip” and “We will be the owner of it.”
Gaza has been in war with his neighbor Israel since October 7, 2023, a terrorist attack by Group Hamas on Israel.
In February, Trump said all the Palestinians living in Gaza should be transferred to other Middle East countries, while the US develops the region.
That idea has been dismissed flat by Arab countries.
