Exer Patel has been appointed as the captain of Delhi Capital, at one time when the IPL season 18 is set to start from 22 March. While KL Rahul was also in favor, Patel is probably rewarded for his loyalty and last performance for the side.

In a statement by DC about the announcement of captaincy, Patel said, “It is my full respect for the captaincy of Delhi capitals, and I am deeply grateful to my owners and supporting employees to have my faith in me … I am going here in the capitals during my time as a cricketer and a human being, and I feel ready to pursue this side. Putting the squad together has done a great job in the mega auction, with tremendous ability.

Exer Patel has been a part of the IPL for the last 11 years, starting his career with Punjab Kings in 2014 before going to Delhi Capital in 2019. Over the years, Patel has become an experienced on the side and was also elevated in the vice-container spots.

In the 150 matches played so far, Patel has scored an average of 1653 runs on an average of 21.47 and a strike rate of 130.88, with the highest score of 66. With the ball, the 31 -year -old has taken 123 wickets with an economy rate of only 7.28.

However, in recent times, Patel has emerged as a much better player as he batted at number 5 for India, while during the recently concluded Champions Trophy also worked as a bank for Captain Rohit Sharma, which India won.

Patel was the highest retention of DC before the IPL auction 16.5 crore and they will expect a star all -rounder to advance their best legs in the upcoming season.

While Exer has been the vice-captain of the side for the last few sessions, he has captained the franchise only once last year when Rishabh Pant was out of a slow ban. In a big clash against RCB, DC lost by 47 runs.

Meanwhile, Patel has also gained home captaincy experience after captaining the Gujarat team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches last year.
