Lack of military personnel of Europe exposed

Brussels – Russia approved a set of military plans designed to remove Europe’s invasion in the year of Russia launched a lump sum war on Ukraine. This was the largest shake-up of preparation for the protecting the coalition since the Cold War.

Secret schemes explain how the Western ally will be lowered to the NATO region from the Atlantic to the Arctic, through the Baltic region and through the Central Europe, to the Mediterranean Sea. More than 300,000 soldiers will move to their eastern flanks within 30 days, many of them Americans. It will climb up to 800,000 within six months.

But the Trump administration warned last month that American priorities were elsewhere. Europe should take care of its safety, and those goals now seem suspicious. It is proving to be a challenge for only 30,000 European soldiers for any future peace police in Ukraine.

The billions of euros are being transferred to the military budget, but only slowly, and Europeans are struggling to set fire to production in their defense industries.

Beyond funding, thousands and more European citizens may have to complete military service, and the time is essence. NATO general secretary Mark Rute has warned that the Russian force may be able to start an attack on the European region in 2030.

Concerned about Russia’s intentions, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wants to introduce large -scale military training for every adult male, and doubles the size of the Poland’s army to about 500,000 soldiers.

“If Ukraine loses war or if it accepts the terms of peace, ceasefire or capitulation … then, without a doubt – and we can all agree on it – Poland would find himself in a very difficult geopolitical position,” the track warned MPs last week.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimates that there are about 1.5 million active duty personnel in Europe, including the UK. But many cannot be deployed on a battlefield, and it is difficult to use effectively without a centralized command system.

In the end of 2024, the number of Russian soldiers in Ukraine was estimated to be around 700,000.

NATO soldiers are controlled by an American general using US air transport and logistics.

Analysts say that in the event of a Russian attack, NATO top military officers will probably send 200,000 American troops to Europe, who manufactures 100,000 already based on US military personnel.

The Brussels-based Brugel Think Tank estimates, “out of the picture by Americans,” a realistic estimate may be because 300,000 American troops need to increase European capabilities equal to the fighting capacity of 300,000 American soldiers.

“Europe faces an alternative: either the number of contingents has increased by more than 300,000, or to find ways to raise military coordination rapidly,” Brugel said.

The question is how.

The NATO is encouraging countries to create a number of personnel, but the trans-elemental alliance is not telling them how to do it. For armed forces and maintaining public support for Ukraine is very important for risk by determining options.

A senior NATO official said on the condition of anonymity, “The way they go about it is intensely political, so we will not write any way to change it – even if it was known for consciousness, alternative conscience, large reserves,” a senior officer said on the condition of anonymity as he was not anonymous for journalists until he was unnatural.

He said, “We emphasize that fighting with those regional plans means that we are in collective defense and there is a possibility that we currently require more manpower, or we have designed to distribute our force models,” he said.

There is compulsory military service in eleven European countries: Austria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Gargish Union Nation Norway. The length of the service ranges from two months to 19 months in Norway in Croatia.

Poland is not considering a return to universal military service, but is a reserve system based on model in Switzerland, where every man is bound to serve in armed forces or an alternative civil service. Women can do volunteers.

The new Belgian Defense Minister plans to write a letter to around 120,000 citizens in November, aged 18, who try to celebrate at least 500 to sign up for voluntary military service. The debate about this issue goes on in UK and Germany.

According to a parliamentary report released on Tuesday, Germany’s professional armed forces had 181,174 active service personnel at the end of last year – slightly lower compared to 2023. This means that it is not close to the target of the Ministry of Defense by 2031 by 2031.

The report stated that last year, 20,290 people started serving in the German Army, or Bundesvehar, an increase of 8%, reported in the report. But out of 18,810 who joined in 2023, leaving again at their own request during the testing period of 5,100 or 27%-27%of more than a quarter.

For the armed forces, the Commissioner of the German Parliament, Eva Hong, said that the life of the army is a difficult sales.

“The biggest problem is boredom,” said Hoga. “If young people have nothing to do, if there are not enough equipment and not enough instructors, if the rooms are not appropriately clean and organized, it stops people and it makes Bundesvehar unattractive.”

At the other end of the scale, Tiny Luxembourg has unique demographic challenges. Of about 630,000 passport holders, only 315,000 are Luxembourg. Number of people of military service age – 18 to 40 – is still small.

About 1,000 people are listed. It is smaller than some European powers, but the UK is larger than per capita than the armed forces. Recently, Luxembourg-where unemployment is low and the salary is high-it has struggled to find 200–300 military personnel.

Military service also comes with many challenges, at least no one assures someone to sign up when they can be sent in front, and in a hurry, trained consips cannot replace a professional army. The draft also costs money. Additional employees, housing and trainers are required during the tenure of a consump.
