Exer Patel named Delhi Capital Captain before IPL 2025 season






The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 captaincy line-up has officially been completed after becoming 10th franchise to confirm its captain of Delhi Capital. DC, who was assigned the responsibility of replacing Rishabh Pant, announced the appointment of Exer Patel as the new captain of the franchise before the IPL 2025 season. KL Rahul was another name which was allegedly targeted by the franchise for the role of leadership, but the wicket-keeper batsman has rejected the proposal. Rahul’s refusal left DC without any other option, but replaced Rishabh Pant with Exer Patel.

In the last season, Exer, who has now won two ICC titles with the Indian team, scored an average of 235 runs at around 30 and took 11 wickets in the 7.65 economy.

“This is my full respect for captaining the capitals of Delhi,” said Ear Patel, when appointed as captain. “I have evolved into a cricketer and I feel ready and confident to pursue this side.”

Partha Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capital, said, “I have seen Exer’s progress as a cricketer and a leader in Delhi Capital is first seen with hand.”

“After selecting Exer in 2019, I have a relationship with him that is beyond cricket. He has been seen as the team’s Vice Captain in the last two years, it is safe to say that he is a very loving character in the dressing room and that is that I am sure it is a type. It was a type of T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy recently.

On being appointed as Delhi’s capitals, Exer Patel said, “It is my full respect to captain the capitals of Delhi, and I am deeply grateful to my owners and assistant employees to have their faith in me,” said, “Axer Patel said, as a captain, as a release of Delhi Capital has been cited.

“I have evolved into a cricketer and a human being in the capitals during my time, and I feel ready to pursue this side. Our coaches and scouts have done a great job in the mega auction, putting a balanced and strong squad together.

Exer has been with DC since 2019, and was retained for Rs 18 crore further from the IPL 2025 mega auction. In his IPL career of 150 matches, Exer has scored 1653 runs at a strike rate of 130.88, while taking 123 wickets with his left -arm spin bowling at the economy rate of 7.28.

Exer was India’s vice-captains during his 4–1 T20C series win over England at home this year, but his potential height as DC captain for IPL 2025 is going to be a major test of his leadership skills, especially with franchise, still looking for his first championship victory.

Rahul was also a leadership contender after being planted by the franchise for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction last year. The wicketkeeper-better led the Punjab Kings (PBK) and Lucknow Super Veterans (LSG) for every two sessions in the first IPL, later entered the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 seasons.

But according to sources, he will now facilitate the role of DC Minus leadership. The inaugural match of IPL 2025 will be against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on 24 March. Before leaving for Visakhapatnam on March 17, a three -day training camp is scheduled for being a three -day training camp this week.
