Although Priyanka Chopra often credits Bareilly as her hometown, it was Mumbai that shaped her entertainment career. Her mother, Madhu Chopra recently reminded of her early days in the city, Priyanka’s best friend Tamanna Dutt, her early films and her first meeting with Vijay.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Madhu reminded about Priyanka’s first film, Thumjan (2002), where he acted with Vijay. He shared that the Tamil star played an important role in boosting Priyanka’s confidence as 19 -year -old newcomer. Initially nervous about working with such a big star, Priyanka was directed and supported by Vijay, which Madhu described as her first guru. He also recalled that the choreography of the film handled by Prabhu Dev’s brother Raju Sundaram was quite challenging. However, despite the demanding dance scenes, Vijay ensured that Priyanka took comfortable and well on the set.
Madhanka further reflected Madhu in Mumbai after winning the beauty pageant, remembering how she went to support with her daughter. Initially, he lived with an expanded family in Kandivali. It was challenging to adjust Mumbai’s fast-paced life, especially commuting. Addressing his own car back home, he now had to rely on local trains, who first felt scared. Kandivali was included in his daily routine at 5:30 am to reach the training session of coach Mickey Mehta by 6:30 am, which was in an important effort to establish Priyanka’s career in the city.
Madhu Leso shared that Mumbai felt safe than other big cities, allowing them to take taxis home late at night without any fear. Later, he moved to a payment guest facility in Santa Cruz, where Priyanka met Tamanna Dutt, who became her roommate and close friend. Madhu believed that Priyanka was always surrounded by positive energy and fortunate, she was never shown heavy with challenges. She praised her daughter’s confidence and flexibility in handling obstacles, making her journey smooth.
