Ukraine agreed to accept an immediate 30-day ceasefire in a conflict with Russia during a conversation with US authorities in Saudi Arabia, in a joint statement.
The statement said, “Today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – under the graceful hospitality of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman – the United States and Ukraine took important steps towards restoring sustainable peace for Ukraine,” the statement said.
Representatives of both nations praised the bravery of Ukrainians in defense of their nation and agreed that it is now time to start a process towards permanent peace.
Ukraine immediately expressed readiness to accept the American proposal to implement the interim-30-day ceasefire, which could be extended by mutual agreement by the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation. The statement said that the United States will communicate with Russia that Russian mutuality is the key to peace.
US State Secretary Marco Rubio said that he would now take a proposal for the Russians, and that the ball is now in the court of Moscow.
The United States will resume intelligence with Kiev.
“We are going to tell them what it is on the table. Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking. And now it will be on them whether they say yes or not, “Rubio said.” If they do not say, then we will unfortunately know what is a hindrance to peace here. ,
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said: “The Ukrainian delegation today made something clear that he shares the vision of President Trump for peace.”
The two delegations agreed to name the teams of their conversations and immediately began a conversation towards a permanent peace that provides for long -term security of Ukraine. The United States committed to discuss these specific proposals with Russia representatives. The Ukrainian delegation reiterated that European partners would be involved in the peace process.
Declarations came out as senior officials from Ukraine and the United States and talks in Saudi Arabia focused on ending Moscow’s three -year war against Kiev. The discussion began a few hours after Russia shot more than 300 Ukrainian drones. This was Ukraine’s biggest attack as Kremlin ordered his neighbor’s full -scale invasion.
