Two suspects are facing trial on Monday after the Islamic Republic was accused in a failed conspiracy to kill a US-based critic of the Iranian government.
Rafat Amirov of Iran and Polad Omrov and Slovenia of the Czech Republic have been scheduled to appear in the federal court in New York City, which is not guilty of targeting journalist Christ Alinjad, according to the Reuters, after not being guilty of alleged murder. Prosecutors said that both suspected Russian mobs were hired and were hired by Iran’s revolutionary guard corps,
Finally, I will face the men hired by the Islamic Republic to kill me, here in New York, “Alinezad, who is expected to testify, wrote on X.” Of course, it is not easy. But this is a big day. I am deeply grateful to my new country, the United States, who is trying to protect me from the government of my birth country.
“In such moments, it is easy to panic, fear, or even broken, but your support raises me,” he said. “So, as I walk in that court, I will take your strength with me.”

The test in the Manhattan federal court will start with jury selection on Monday, the Reuters said.
Amirov, Omrov and a third suspect, Yonkars, Khalid Mehdiev of New York were charged by the Department of Justice in early 2023.
The DOJ said at the time, “A federal court in New York today had a conspiracy to kill an American citizen against three members of an Eastern European criminal organization and conspiring to kill an American citizen, which was targeted by the Iran’s government to speak against the human rights violation of governance.”
Officials said the plot of murder was the second attempt by Iran to target Alinjad. The FBI thwarted and tried by Tehran an alleged 2021 kidnapping attempt and forcibly brought him back to Iran.

“In this case the victim was targeted to exercise the rights for whom every American citizen deserves. The victim propagated the human rights violations of the Iranian government; discriminatory treatment of women; democratic participation and expression, suppressing and using arbitrary imprisonment, torture and execution, said” then said “said”.
Mehdiev was arrested in 2022, when he was found driving with a load rifle and dozens of rounds of ammunition around Elinezad’s Brooklyn neighborhood. Alinezad told The Associated Press at that time that the officials told him that the man was looking for him, and a house security video had hung him outside his front door.
Mehdiev has also requested not to be guilty, but according to Reuters, their test position is not clear.
“Mr. Omrov is considered innocent,” his lawyer, Elena Fast, told the news agency.
